Dawn and I shot this video for a client of a bridge removal (270 tons) at JFK. First a giant beam had been installed inside the structure for the lifting cranes to hold onto. Each massive crane was manned by it’s own operator, who remained in constant radio contact crane-to-massive crane. It was like watching a coordinated dance. They safely picked up, nudged the bridge away from the Terminal, turned it sideways (with inches to spare on there Terminal side) and lowered it onto two massive carrying vehicles. The structure was then moved away for disassembly. It was wet, VERY wet. Heavy rain. It’s was an amazing event to be a part of at midnight at JFK. Great job by everyone involved. Congrats to Vin and his team and the great people at Delta. Here is the entire half hour sped up for you to 90 seconds.
